What a tool you are.

Nothing wrong with your thought processes - except a complete lack of understanding of, well, pretty much everything.

There is more than ample evidence to show that Keynesian economics works both in theory and in practice - just as there is more than ample evidence to show that unregulated free-enterprise periodically self-destructs with disastrous consequences for millions of your fellow men.

As for private industry building the Hoover Dam, well, first they would need that intention wouldn't they? Second, they would need a 20% annualized return after borrowing at 3% more than government bonds, all in order to supply a market for hydro power which didn't yet exist.

Hey: they want to build a new bridge across the Detroit river. Why don't you get a few pals together and beat them to the punch? All you need to do is get two countries to agree to spend a few billion on roads to connect to it so that a few million people you don't know can volunteer to give you a ridiculous amount of money to use it rather than crossing via the existing bridge and tunnel.

Go for it genius.

If we are to manage the recession better, then one solution stop all immigration for the forseeable future. Canada might be a huge country, but we have only so many cities and towns that can absorb 240,000 extra people a year. Think of the strain that is placed on our public transport, power supply, water and garbage collection. Not to mention government-paid socialized housing. Do we really need more cab drivers, ethnic grocery stores and pizza delivery people in an economic slump?

Talking about our car industry collapsing - serves them bloody well right for the unions demanding inflated wages, padded benefits and bigger pensions. How can they expect to compete against foreign cars that are built by more efficient companies that do not pay out half the money to their workers in wages, overtime, benefits and other goodies that GMC and Ford do? Put the blame on Marxist morons like Buzz Hargrave who presided over the loss of hunderds, if not thousands of auto workers who lost their jobs he was supposedly "protecting."

As for Harper, thank God he is our Prime Minister and not that French fool, Stephan Dion, who would have destroyed the country with his death wish of fully implementing the Kyoto Accord. Given the alternatives like Ignatieff, Duceppe and Layton, Canada could hardly do any worse than them, the late Pierre (commie lover) Trudeau not withstanding.
